Geijutsu Afternoon Tea

Origami & Woodblock Art Series

Introducing the first Geijutsu Afternoon Tea Series inspired by different forms of Japanese artistry. The first series will feature the creativity of our culinary team in bringing the art forms of Origami & Wood Block Art alive in the form of afternoon tea.

Strawberry Chocolate Crane from the Geijutsu Afternoon Tea: Origami & Woodblock Art Series

The intricate artistry of the Geijutsu Afternoon Tea Set is inspired by certain Japanese artists such as Akira Yoshizawa for his mastery of modern origami. "Orizuru" or Origami Crane is one of the oldest origami models in the world and is considered a classic.

Woodblock-prints inspired sweets: Purin in Glass, Nama Chocolate Block, Matcha Cube Cake

The woodblock print-inspired sweets came from the artist, Katsushika Hokusai. This includes the prints titled below.

  • Purin in Glass (mountain print): GaifÅ« Kasei or "A Mild Breeze on a Fine Day"
  • Nama Chocolate Block (wave print): Kanagawa-oki Nami Ura or "Under the Wave of Kanagawa"
  • Matcha Cube Cake (sakura tree print): Inspired by the poem by Gon-chunagon Masufasa (Oe no Masufasa) from the series of Hyakunin Isshu Uba Ga Etoki or 'One Hundred Poems Explained by the Nurse
