Michelin-starred Japanese Restaurant Yamazato Soon to Open at Resorts World Manila
As the country’s premier entertainment and lifestyle destination, Resorts World Manila (RWM) gears up to add another prominent international brand in its acclaimed hotel portfolio. Upscale fine dining and Michelin-starred restaurant Yamazato marks its soft opening this November 23, 2019 at the 2nd floor of Hotel Okura Manila, RWM Grand Wing.
The Yamazato brand is the first Japanese restaurant in Europe to receive a Michelin Star in 2002 for their Amsterdam branch. Today, the brand operates in 10 prime global cities worldwide offering authentic Japanese cuisine tailored to international guests with Michelin plates served in their Taipei, Macau, and Bangkok restaurants.
The Okura signature dining has been in operation for more than half a century and is currently set to open more outlets in Okura properties outside of Japan. For its Manila restaurant, Japanese Executive Chef Rinnosuke Mouri, who has over 33 years of culinary experience in celebrated hotels and clubs in Japan, will be running the kitchen.
“In line with the Okura brand, Yamazato continuously fulfills its mission to provide its signature Japanese omotenashi combined with Filipino heart, along with exquisite Japanese cuisine,” shared the chef. “We have a common point that we both live on rice. The taste and texture of Japanese rice is different from the breeds in the Philippines, and in the Kaiseki Ryori, multi-coursed Japanese fine dining, rice comes at the end of the course, yet I do believe that the diners in Manila would find our style attractive. In Yamazato, diners can enjoy the authentic Japanese rice imported from Japan,” he adds.
“Another point is that the Japanese cuisine is beautiful to the eyes. Most of the items on the plate are edible, including edible flowers and sprouts. They are carefully selected and cut; not only it is delightful to look at, its taste enhances the charm of the main ingredients or serves as a refreshment,” the chef explained.
Yamazato’s interiors boast of origami-simulated ceilings, warm wood finishes, and ambient checkered lighting. Servers will be donned in their traditional kimonos that signify the changing seasons while classic dishes are to be served in rustic, handmade Arita-yaki earthenware.
Bestselling dishes at Yamazato comprise extensive selections that include the traditional Kaiseki Ryouri set menu dishes for dinner as crafted by highly skilled Chef Mouri. The dish dates back to the Japanese Imperial Court in the 9th century and has evolved into one of the world’s most popular forms of dining today.
Yamazato also offers an impressive array of teppanyaki, sushi, and sashimi dishes, as well as an extensive à la carte menu. The dishes evolve with the seasons and the availability of the ingredients to ensure authentic and quality flavors.
“Traditional Japanese cuisine is a harmonious blending of ingredients for a nutritious and beautifully presented meal. Washoku reflects the respect for nature's cycle, with preparing seasonal produce in a way that maximizes the natural flavor of the ingredients as much as possible,” according to Chef Mouri.
Yamazato at Hotel Okura Manila is set to hold its soft opening in November prior to its formal opening next year. They are now accepting reservations for November 23 onwards. Visit www.rwmanila.com or download the RWM Mobile App to know more about Yamazato and other RWM restaurant outlets.
